(*) 330 uF can have 10 V rating on some variants (e.g. 173T)

(*) On some mainboards the 10uF capacitors are rated 50V and C88 are sometime 470 uF rated at 50 V.

Below are tables showing which electrolytic capacitors are used for Commodore machines and peripherals. These tables are made from own experience doing repair and refurbish so these are in no way Commodore officials - errors can occur.

Please note that:

  • For some of the assy numbers there are sub-revisions marked with "artwork xxyyzz, REV B/C etc" or other markings. So check carefully which revision applies.

  • These tables are not Commodore official - errors can occur

  • This page is best displayed in a web browser on a PC/MAC. On mobile devices you may need to scroll the tables.

Floppy drives

Please note:

  • Some of the original capacitors have a temperature rating of 85 degrees Celcius. I recommend using a temperature rating of 105 degrees Celcius for capacitors on the mainboard since the heat inside the 1541 floppy can be significant. For the motor unit 85 degrees Celsius rating should be sufficient.

C15 is supposed to be a 10uF 25V tantalum capacitor according to the 1541 Service manual. Nevertheless, I have seen 10uF 35 V electrolytic capacitors used instead (e.g. in this 1541 floppy drive).
